More than a project
An independent educational and research initiative at the intersection of artistic practice, pedagogy, and research
We are interested in the condition of fragmented time — the discontinuity and endurance familiar to many artists who sustain a practice alongside other employment. We look for tools that help carry long-term projects forward even when the work on them is interrupted and returned to in pieces.

Artists come to us who have already made one or several projects and want to understand what recurs across them — the themes, strategies, and relationships to material and form that keep returning.
Programmes

Built on the DASArts Feedback Method, our programmes use collective feedback as a way of recognising what is already present within a practice — recurring questions, methods, and structures not yet fully visible to the artist — without closing the work down. Three courses:

Map of Practice — mapping one's practice to recognise its artistic method.

Artistic Research Laboratory — holding long-term projects open and articulating the research questions that emerge from within them.

Writing About Your Practice — moving from reflection toward clear public writing.

Background

Founded by artists Maria Morina and Yana Romanova in 2020; continued since 2023 by Maria Morina with invited teachers.

Alongside the programmes we keep a blog, open lectures, freely available maps and tools, and the Glossary of Artistic Practice — a long-term project in which artists share the words that matter to their work, and coin new ones.
